Why was the resurrection important? He's God... couldn't he blink an eye to fix us? How could he die if he's God?
Welcome to 2023! The year is new, but their is still some climbing to be one on this subject! Lately I've been a bit occupied so I've had little time to sit down and write, but today I have the time! I researched using my usual sources (Living waters, Frank Turek) and a bit of Biblical understanding I've received.
Research
“The Cross Is the victory, the resurrection is the triumph!”
Pastor Nelson from "GotQuestions.org" says "Believing in the Resurrection is believing in God." So we're at a fundamental point in our climb, a point where we must decide...Is there a God? If we decide no then we should go ahead and mosey our way down the mountain because if you don't believe in a possible summit or outcome there's no point in researching something you won't put the smallest belief or thought into.
Well..? You still here? Cause this is going to be a lot!
As you've probably heard Jesus is 3 in 1, which is difficult for most to understand, but the easiest way is to describe it as this. God the deity, Jesus the deity, and The Spirit the deity have been in existence since forever. They're eternal beings. Jesus "the man" form wasn't born till a little more than 2,000 years ago. Jesus the man is just Jesus the deity in a man's body, with man's limitations. Body odor, bladder, physical and mental pain, growing up, sorrow, being a teenager, and the list goes on and on. Point being Jesus was not just man or just deity, he was deity that took upon a human form and human struggles.
Why did Jesus Die?
Though we've passed up the topic of "How did Jesus die" in blog #3, "Was Jesus Resurrected?," there's still some ground to cover in that topic. If Jesus is both God (deity) and man (human), how could he have died if he's God? God can't die and if he did it's not legit because he knows he's going to revive himself. Well Jesus needed to die because he was the perfect sacrifice that we needed to be bailed out from the punishment of sin...death. When I say say death I'm not only referring to the physical death we as humans must endure, but the spiritual death as well where the core of you, the person inside is put to death forever...Hell. Of course God is loving and doesn't want us in hell, but he's also just and is the perfect judge. He doesn't let things go unpunished. If someone murdered a loved one of yours you'd want them to not go unpunished as well. With God, his law is the standard and if we break his standard he has no other option than to punish us. Clearly there's no one on the planet who's perfect and I know you ain't thinking of yourself. Lying, stealing, lusting, fornicating, dishonoring your parents are things we've all done at some point. Like in law your crimes don't go away because you did them a long time ago. The person who murdered your loved one did it 20 years ago, is he really free to go? No. That is why we needed Jesus to become a human and live the perfect sinless life we could never live and then take our punishment...Death. If you're in a court of law and someone pays your bail your're free to go and that's exactly what Jesus did for us.
Closing Remarks
Take time to read and study this topic of Jesus death. Part 2 of this blog will be up soon and will really be more in depth on the "How" part of all of this. Today was fun because I got to do my favorite part of explaining Christianity and tomorrow will be just as fun!
